PRIVACY POLICY

Effective date: 9 October 2026

1Who we are

NEARCADE is made by Quiet Craft Studio, run by Maciej Kobylański in Poland, who is the controller of the personal data described here (quietcraftstudio.co). Questions about this policy or about privacy in the app: support@quietcraftstudio.co. Where data protection law asks who the controller is, it is Quiet Craft Studio.

2Data we collect: none

NEARCADE has no accounts, no sign-in and no servers. It contains no analytics, advertising or tracking tools and no third-party code (SDKs). The app itself does not connect to the internet and sends nothing to us or to anyone else, except for the nearby play described in section 4. Syncing your data between your own devices is done by iOS through your own iCloud account (section 3), never through us. That is why its App Store privacy label says “Data Not Collected”.

3What stays on your iPhone and in your iCloud

To work, the app keeps a few things in its own storage on your iPhone:

  • your nickname and avatar;
  • your settings: theme (Day, Night or Auto), music, sound effects, vibration, the last difficulty and event you chose, and which one-time screens you have already seen;
  • your stats and records, for example matches, wins, scores, best times and distances, and your best run, replayed as the “ghost” in Sprint & Long Jump;
  • your results against people you have played nearby, saved under their nickname and avatar.

Sync through your iCloud. If you are signed in to iCloud, NEARCADE keeps your nickname and avatar, your theme, music, sound and vibration settings, and your stats, records, results against friends and best-run ghost the same on all your devices. It uses Apple’s iCloud key-value storage in your own iCloud account: Apple stores and transfers this data for you, and Apple’s privacy policy applies. We have no server and no access to it. Each device keeps its own numbers there under a random ID that is not linked to you or to the device, and the app adds them up, so after a reinstall your profile and stats come back. The app language and the one-time screens are not synced.

You decide whether to sync: the app has its own switch, iCloud sync, in your profile → Settings (gear) → OPTIONS. It is on by default. When you turn it off, the app no longer reads from or writes to iCloud and everything stays on this iPhone only; turn it back on to sync again. Turning it off does not delete what is already in your iCloud (section 10 explains how). Nothing is synced either if you are not signed in to iCloud on your iPhone (Settings → [your name]) or if iCloud is not available.

We never see any of this. Like other app data, it can also be part of your iPhone backups (iCloud or computer) if you use them; those backups are between you and Apple.

4Playing with people nearby

NEARCADE connects iPhones directly over Wi-Fi (on the same Wi-Fi network, or peer-to-peer Wi-Fi between the phones), without the internet and without any server.

  • While the list of players nearby (the lobby, including its FRIEND HASN'T GOT THE APP? screen) is open, your iPhone announces your nickname, your avatar, your status (free to play, busy with an invitation, or starting a game) and a version number of the connection, so that only compatible versions of the app connect. While you host a Sprint & Long Jump group, it announces your nickname, your avatar, that version number, the game, the number of players, whether a round is under way and the current event. This is how other iPhones running NEARCADE find you, but any device on the same Wi-Fi network, or right next to you over peer-to-peer Wi-Fi, can pick up this announcement. At any other time your iPhone announces nothing, and never in the background: leaving the lobby or the group stops it.
  • An invitation carries your nickname, your avatar and the game you picked. Once the phones are connected, they exchange only what the game needs: nicknames, avatars, game moves and scores, plus timing data that keeps the game and the music in sync.
  • This data goes straight to the other players’ phones and never reaches us. The other players’ apps save your nickname, your avatar and the result in their stats (on their phone and, if they use it, in their own iCloud), just as yours does for them.
  • The connection is not additionally encrypted, because it carries nothing sensitive. Pick a nickname you are happy for people nearby to see; it does not have to be your real name.

5Local Network permission

The first time you open the list of players nearby (after a short NEARCADE screen that explains why), iOS asks whether NEARCADE may find and connect to devices on your local network. NEARCADE uses this only to find iPhones nearby that are running NEARCADE and to connect to them. It does not look for, or connect to, any other devices or services. Solo games work without this permission. You can change it at any time in Settings → Privacy & Security → Local Network → Nearcade.

6Purchase

NEARCADE is a paid app sold through Apple’s App Store, with no in-app purchases. Apple handles the payment. We do not receive your name, your Apple Account or your payment details, only aggregated sales reports. Apple’s privacy policy applies to the purchase.

7Crash reports from Apple

If you have chosen to share analytics with app developers (Settings → Privacy & Security → Analytics & Improvements), Apple may give us crash reports and basic usage statistics that do not identify you. We use them only to fix problems. You can turn this off in the same place.

8If you email us

If you write to us, we receive your email address and whatever you put in your message. We use it only to reply to you, keep it only as long as needed for that, and delete it when you ask. Legal basis: our legitimate interest in answering you (Article 6(1)(f) GDPR).

9Children

NEARCADE does not collect personal information from anyone, including children. There is no chat and no contact with strangers over the internet: other players see only a nickname and an avatar, and only on phones right next to you or on the same Wi-Fi network. We suggest that children use a nickname that is not their real name.

10Your choices and rights

  • Change your nickname and avatar: tap your profile in the main menu, then EDIT.
  • Delete your stats, records and results against friends: your profile → Settings (gear) → STATS → RESET STATS. With iCloud sync on, this also deletes them on your other devices and in iCloud.
  • Stop syncing: turn off iCloud sync in the app (your profile → Settings (gear) → OPTIONS, section 3).
  • Delete everything the app has stored: delete NEARCADE from your devices. The synced copy in your iCloud stays, so that it comes back if you reinstall: reset your stats first, with iCloud sync on, to delete them from iCloud too; a small record of your profile and settings stays in your iCloud account. Copies in earlier backups remain until those backups are deleted.
  • We hold no data about you, so there is nothing for us to access, export or delete on our side. If you have emailed us, you can ask to see or delete that correspondence. Under the GDPR you also have the right to rectification, restriction and objection, and the right to lodge a complaint with a data protection authority, for example in the country where you live.
  • We do not sell or share personal information, and we do not use it for targeted advertising or profiling (as these terms are used in the privacy laws of California and other US states).

11Changes to this policy

If we change this policy, we will publish the new version on this page with a new effective date. If a future version of the app ever handles data differently, we will update this policy before that version is released.

  • Twój nick i avatar;
  • ustawienia: motyw (dzień, noc lub auto), muzykę, dźwięki, wibracje, ostatnio wybrany poziom trudności i konkurencję oraz to, które jednorazowe ekrany zostały już pokazane;
  • statystyki i rekordy, np. mecze, wygrane, wyniki, najlepsze czasy i odległości oraz Twój najlepszy bieg, odtwarzany jako „duch” w Sprincie i skoku w dal;

4Gra z osobami obok

  • Zaproszenie zawiera Twój nick, avatar i wybraną grę.

Jeśli napiszesz do nas e-mail, otrzymamy Twój adres e-mail i treść wiadomości.

10Twoje wybory i prawa

  • Zmiana nicku i avatara: dotknij swojego profilu w menu głównym, potem EDYTUJ.
Zgodnie z RODO przysługuje Ci też prawo do sprostowania, ograniczenia przetwarzania i sprzeciwu oraz prawo do wniesienia skargi do organu nadzorczego (w Polsce: Prezes Urzędu Ochrony Danych Osobowych).

  • deinen Nickname und deinen Avatar;
  • deine Einstellungen: Design (Tag, Nacht oder Auto), Musik, Soundeffekte, Vibration, den zuletzt gewählten Schwierigkeitsgrad und die zuletzt gewählte Disziplin sowie welche einmaligen Bildschirme du schon gesehen hast;
  • deine Statistik und Rekorde, z. B. Spiele, Siege, Ergebnisse, Bestzeiten und Bestweiten sowie deinen besten Lauf, der in Sprint & Weitsprung als „Geist“ mitläuft;

NEARCADE n’a ni compte, ni connexion, ni serveur.

  • ton pseudo et ton avatar ;
  • tes réglages : thème (jour, nuit ou auto), musique, bruitages, vibrations, le dernier niveau de difficulté et la dernière épreuve choisis, et les écrans d’introduction déjà vus ;
  • tes stats et records, par exemple matchs, victoires, scores, meilleurs temps et distances, ainsi que ta meilleure course, rejouée comme « fantôme » dans Sprint et longueur ;

Synchronisation via ton iCloud.

  • tu nick y tu avatar;
  • tus ajustes: tema (día, noche o auto), música, efectos de sonido, vibración, el último nivel de dificultad y la última prueba elegidos, y qué pantallas de introducción ya has visto;
  • tus estadísticas y récords, por ejemplo partidas, victorias, resultados, mejores tiempos y distancias, y tu mejor carrera, que se reproduce como “fantasma” en Sprint y longitud;
